NEW YORK, February 28, 2019 — Gaming arrives on the green this week at the Honda Classic with the Esports Zone—marking the tournament’s first official foray into esports.

Gamers of all ages and skill will have the chance to not only play like the pros on professional gaming terminals featuring HyperX headsets and Microsoft Xbox One Consoles—but also play with the pros. On Saturday March 2, the Esports Zone will host premier esports organization Misfits Gaming, known for their professional teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, Fortnite and the NBA’s 2K League through their affiliation with the NBA’s Miami Heat.

“We’re excited to bring together the best of golfing and gaming at the Honda Classic,” said George Schneider, Esports CEO. “Young gamers and golfers look up to the best players in both sports and now attendees will have the chance to meet their heroes.”

Gamers can meet and compete with Misfits Gaming’s Fortnite pros Sceptic and SurfnBoy on Saturday, March 2, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sceptic and SurfnBoy will be in the Esports Zone to play, sign autographs and take photos with esports enthusiasts.

The Esports Zone is free to Honda Classic ticketholders and open to gamers of all ages and skills from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday, February 28 through Sunday, March 3. The action takes place at the Bear Trap on the 17th Hole at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.
