While most Memorial Day Weekends are spent with some mixture of sun, friends, food and frosty beverages, this one is definitely going to be a bit different – but there are plenty of fun events to fill up your time not spent at the lake or neighborhood barbecue.

As you’re reading through our latest edition of What’s Hot: Social Distancing Edition, we recommend making the most of these three events. Just because you’re home doesn’t mean you can’t dress up, make a nice dinner and maybe even stir up a few cocktails. We could all use a pick-me-up these days, so go ahead and go crazy. We’re bringing the online events—you’re in charge of the party.

Here are three online events for you to check out this Memorial Day Weekend.

One Earth Live | May 23-24

One Earth Live may seem like a bit of a hippy feel-good fest, but we think everyone could use a little more of those vibes in their life right now. This two-day festival is absolutely packed with musicians, speakers and…yoga instructors (why not!) to fill up your weekend. It’s completely online, with nine different “stages” that will stream live during the event.

Appearances include John Butler, Michael Franti, Nahko, Trevor Hall, Appalachia Rising and many, many more. Plus, proceeds from the event will support artists affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Virtual Beer Festival | May 22, 23 | 10 p.m. ET

If you’re thinking a music and yoga festival sounds a little bit too chill for your Memorial Day Weekend, allow us to counter with The Virtual Beer Festival. Yep, it’s going to be as awesome as it sounds. Some of the West Coast’s most formidable breweries are grouping up for tours, tastings, games, comedy and more. It’s all hosted by comedian Andy Milonakis.

Breweries for the event include Stone, Bivouac, Modern Times, Pacific Islander, Alesmith, Resident, Thorn, Mother Earth, Pizza Port and Burgeon. For west-coasters, the festival will actually ship you a case of beer to enjoy along with the event. For those on the East Coast, though, try picking up a few of these breweries’ staple beers at your local liquor store if you’re comfortable.

National Memorial Day Concert | May 24 | 8 p.m. ET

Just because we can’t be with all of our friends and family this Memorial Day doesn’t mean we can’t reflect on the true purpose of the holiday. Tune into Facebook, Instagram or PBS to stream this year’s National Memorial Day Concert.

This patriotic event will feature appearances from Joe Mantegna, Gary Sinise, Cynthia Erivo, Trace Adkins, Sam Elliott, Laurence Fishburne, the National Symphony Orchestra and more. No matter your political affiliation, this is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what unites us all as Americans.
