From October through December, all you need to do is turn on the radio to access an instant dose of holiday hits. You’ll often hear the same songs by the same artists who rule the radio this time of year: Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, Pentatonix, Michael Bublé. It can be easy to default to listening to the holiday music chart-toppers, but we’re here to remind you of some of the other hitmakers who’ve made Christmas albums throughout the years. Add these to your holiday party playlist to shake things up a bit and treat your guests (and yourself!) to less well-known versions of their favorite songs by artists they may not expect.

Hanson – Finally It’s Christmas

Hanson - Finally It's ChristmasBefore we had the Jonas Brothers, we had Hanson, and―fun-fact alert―they’re still making music over 25 years after their “MMMBop” days. They released their second Christmas album, Finally It’s Christmas, in 2017. We bet your guests will be shocked when you tell them who sings their new favorite version of “Blue Christmas!”

Cee Lo Green - Cee Lo’s Magic Moment
While it would be unlikely for anyone to ever forget CeeLo Green’s monster hit, “Forget You,” there’s a pretty good chance they’ve forgotten (or never even heard of) his 2012 Christmas album, CeeLo’s Magic Moment. But with the perfect mix of soulful tunes like “Mary Did You Know” and funky tracks like “Run Rudolph Run,” this album is totally worth revisiting. And if you need a party icebreaker, just bust out the music video for “All I Need Is Love,” which features cameos by The Muppets. You’re welcome.

Brett EldredgeGlow

Brett Eldredge - GlowThe popular country crooner is known for hits like “Wanna Be That Song” and “Drunk On Your Love,” but did you know that he actually grew up singing jazz, citing Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles as some of his biggest influences? He showcases these roots on his 2016 Christmas album, which features mostly classic Christmas covers but also his original song and title track, “Glow.

AshantiA Wonderful Christmas with Ashanti

Ashanti - A Wonderful Christmas with AshantiIt’s crazy to think it’s been almost 20 years since Ashanti broke into the scene as a featured artist on Ja Rule’s “Always on Time” and released her first Christmas album, Ashanti’s Christmas. But it’s even crazier that her 2014 release of her second Christmas album, A Wonderful Christmas with Ashanti (Deluxe), has flown under the radar since its release. Featuring chill R&B Christmas tracks, it’s the perfect soundtrack for a cozy cocktail party.
